Waiting for the Interstellar Firebird

Blackhole1Like a black hole in my belly
The gravity inside me tugs me into myself
My muscles shudder as they resist the collapsing,
The compression, the folding in upon myself
Mental, physical, emotional energy pulled
Down, down, down
I close my eyes and sink into it
Into the nothingness, into a single point
My wandering self, lingering in the moment
Caught off-guard by the density within
I breathe and remember
I cast off my worry
I am in the belly of it now
Where every thought and every movement
Are labored in the heavy gravity
I have been here before
A pattern of collapsing and expanding
A super nova follows this implosion
Like an interstellar firebird
I am expansive, I am boundless
Until the next time
I am caught off-guard
By the black hole in my belly
